The Lord has been reminding me lately, just how close I was from turning away from Him completely. He’s been reminding me of just how far I tried to go to test His ways and see if they were true. To touch the burning stove and see if I’d really get burned. And I truly […]
Complaining can sometimes be an issue of mine.
Can any of y’all relate?
I feel sure I’m not the only one.
But even if I am, I still think we might all benefit from a little bit of a perspective adjustment.
If you follow me at all on social media, you know I just finished the book The Hiding Place – the story of Corrie Ten Boom and her family during World War II.
I’m telling the world because I think everyone should go and read or reread the book right this very minute.
I’m really not kidding.
To me, Eden sounds like a dream come true.
And I am pretty pumped that the Lord says He is gonna come back and make this world perfect again like it originally was in the garden.
I mean, I’m excited for Jesus to come back and all, but I might also be equally as excited to be able to pet whatever animal I want, climb whatever mountain I want (without getting out of breath), and do whatever other extreme sports I want that I’m currently terrified of.
Before I went to Haiti back in May, a comment was made to me. In so many words, this person said, “I’m sure it’s good you’re going and all – it’s good to help others – but are y’all even really making progress down there?” This person – like many others – had a bit of a hopeless mentality about Haiti. They knew about the storms and earthquakes that have ravaged the nation. They knew the poverty that existed in the nation.
In 50 years from now, if someone were to be studying headlines made in May of 2018 in the United States, I’m not sure what they would think. One moment, we are mourning the tragedy of yet another school shooting, the next were debating political policy and ripping each other’s throats out, and then only […]
Over the last 60 or so days I have run two 5Ks and a half-marathon. By the time you all read this, a couple of weeks more will have passed and I do not have any runs planned between now and then, so that statistic will be slightly less true and slightly less impressive. […]
There is something that I am not very good at that I need to share with y’all. (Well there are actually a lot of things, but we’ll just start with one for now). And while I have grown and gained much improvement over the last few years, there are still moments when my pride is […]
When asked what the greatest commandment was by His disciples, Jesus answered them, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets […]
We often admire people who obtain the quality of strength. We admire people who have physical strength, who can perform at high levels. And we admire people who have emotional strength, who seem to face adversity unwaveringly. But when we admire strength and other things and people from afar, our admiration can often turn into idolatry. […]
